Crochet Loom

So, while browsing through Micheal's the other day, and I found something that intreged me.

A loom.

So I bought it, and bought some new yarn and away I went.

After watching a few video's on YouTube, I caught the hang of it and I was done with a scarf in less than a few hours total. I couldn't believe it.

When I worked on my scarf and did the broomstick stictch, it took forever! But I was done with this in little to no time.

Now I am on scarf number two, anyone need one!? LoL.

Home Made Book Mark

Pinterest has captured my attention and now I can add that to my addiction list.

They gave me the idea of making a book mark out of paint sample swatches you can get from Wal-Mart.
So away I went.

It's just a tester.

My cat, Victoria, got a hold of it and now it does not have that last light pink color anymore.

Soul Journaling Day 7 & 8

I did this a little out of order due to being at work and not having all of my supplies with me. Sarah asked us to turn to the next blank page in your journal and using a ball point pen, fill in both pages in small writing. She asked us to use the prompt, "I forgot to tell you..." which was actually quite interesting for me. I found it very easy to voice what I was actually feeling at the moment knowing that I was going to gesso and tape over all of it.
I didn't find it difficult to fill in the two massive white pages.

Once I was finished writing, I taped over both pages with my different kinds of tape but I left a little bit of writing uncovered. Nothing too revealing, however. :)

I then put one layer of gesso on the page. While I was smoothing the tape down, one of the pages ripped off the binding so I tapped it back in, hence the black and white tape. I didn't feel like covering it, so I didn't!

The next step was to cover the pages in a darker shade of paint, which I did.

My pages don't look exactly like Sarah's, but I think it will be okay, since you can still see some writing and tape.

I also did a few steps from day's 5, 6 and 9!

After painting the page a dark color, she gave us a "treasure hunt" list of sorts. She had us find several things in any magazine. I don't remember the exact number of items, but I threw in a few more things because my pages seem to be bigger then what she is working with.

After gluing the pictures down, she asked that we go over with a lighter color, which I chose yellow, not thinking they would blend (duh) to green.

I am not finished with either of these pages yet!!

I love how she has things spread out, and I am on my own time. Everything looks different after a few days away! Pin It

Soul Journal #3

Picking up from the last post, I finished up my Soul Armor and naming my journal. I still feel like there is something missing with the Soul Armor, so I might not be 100% done with that.

If anyone has suggestions please let me know.

I painted my back ground a dark blue, and then I blotted. My scavenger hunt was successful, but because my page is a little bit bigger than the Sarah used, I cut a few more squares out.

I glued all my pieces down and stopped for the day. :)

Coloring.

Since I can't always work on my art journal or some days I feel like doing something different but creative - I color.

It is actually quite relaxing and usually after a difficult picture I feel more relaxed.

I recommend it. And it's so much cheaper then therapy sessions.

Soul Journal #2

I have been working on "claiming my journal" between last night and tonight. I feel like there is still more things that I want to do with it but I am feeling alright with it right now. I will probably end up adding more, but I am stopping for today.

Next I am working on my Soul Armor. I am excited because Sarah has opened up the door to all the possibilities of this armored dude. I am going to gesso and color and paint until my hearts desire. The activity that was meant for this guy was think about the things that I need to protect and nourish my creative spirit. She asks me to think about the things that sustain me and what I would need to shield me from the outside criticism and my inner critic.

One thing that holds me back, A LOT, is my inner critic. I can't say that I am really not worried about what other people think, because sometimes I am - but my biggest downfall is me. So, this little armored guy is going to help me pin point what I can do to help myself get out of my slumps.

I can hardly contain myself with the things that I want to do!

I wanted to get a picture of the entire spread together - it is already starting to come together nicely as it is!

Soul Journaling

New Project: Soul Journaling with an amazingly talented Sarah Whitmire on her blog CASPIANA.
This lady is a doll and she's is so creative! I am working on her free classes right now, and once I am done with those I will be moving on to her next paid class.

I had this book laying around that I had bought on a whim from Wal-Mart - it is roughly an 8 X 11. BIG white pages tend to make me very nervous but I can't help but feel excited as well for all the prospects of this book!

Whenever I first open a new book, my mind races with all the possibilities that these pages can hold. I get so excited with new ideas and the prospect of being able to work on all the projects I have been wanting to do.

Soul Journaling's first step was to glue random dictionary pages or book pages to a few of the pages in your journal, starting with the inside cover. On the cover and the first page I used a Farmer's Almanac, on the second and third page I used an old dictionary and on the next two pages I used pages from an old Twilight book (not my own, this one was given to me!).

I had a lot of fun just ripping and using my Modge Podge to paste the ripped pieces as I pleased. It is quite a calming practice.

The second step to Soul Journaling was to use the prompt, "Today I feel," with a permanent black marker and fill up the pages that I glued ripped pages to. At first, I was like, "This is going to be difficult because today wasn't really exciting. I feel nothing." But once I actually got started, my marker couldn't keep up with the thoughts that were pouring out of my mind. Whenever I came to the end of a subject I just started the next sentence with, "Today I feel," and the words came rushing out again.

The next step was to cover the pages with gesso, which I happily did because I LOVE gesso.

I will be starting the "Claim Your Journal," step soon - probably as soon as I am done updating this! Sarah has the classes set up as daily activities. I mix things up however, and do some of Day 2 on Day 3 and ect. There are breaks between activities but not exactly how Sarah has them set up - which by her directions is okay. :) So these pictures are over the course of a couple of days.

I would love to have a tag like she has on her blog, but I don't think that I can get it until I actually pay for the classes, which is okay. So I will include a link to her blog so you can try it out too!

http://www.caspiana.com - This is her blog.
http://www.souljournaling.com - This is the Soul Journaling Free Classes and the links needed to get to her paid classes. And from what I've seen so far, it's going to be worth it - she's awesome!

I'm Back. =]

I had deleted my blog because of my ex - and I started another blog. But, I really don't like the other blog, it isn't accessible by my phone and I never really liked the format. So now I am back to Blogger.com and I missed it so! I am starting new journey’s but I am totally ready and back in action. I hope I will be able to keep posting all of my ramblings and projects. I only have a billion going at one time.

I have dropped out of the Traveling Art Journal group because my journal was lost. There is really no point of me creating in other people’s journals when I wont be getting mine back.

So, yay! =) Pin It
